Saint Valentine

There are actually several dozens of stories related to the origin of the valentine’s day. The most popular one is one about the Saint.Valentine of the 2nd century. He was a priest in Rome around the time of Emperor Claudius the Cruel. War was going on and Claudius had taken strict measures to keep his military forces disciplined. Saint Valentine, did not agree with this decision and started doing marriage functions secretly, behind his emperor’s back. This went on for months and finally the emperor caught up with him. St.Valentine was arrested and imprisoned under house arrest.

Legend says that, when he was imprisoned, he used his magical powers and cured the blindness of the young daughter of his presiding judge. For this, St.Valentine was pardoned and set free. History of valentine’s day in hindi



The Saint continued presiding marriages and was caught again. This time he was sentenced to be killed. He was killed on February 14th 269 AD. That is how the day came to be celebrated as Valentine’s day. Before his decapitation, the saint left a note to the you girl, saying “from your Valentine”, and that is how the saying got famous.
